Waverley Park: We had loosely defined it as the area bounded by Shawlands Station, Crossmyloof Station and Pollokshaws Road. However this fantastic contribution by local resident Marjorie Phillips sheds some light on the derivation of the name and the geography: "The name Waverley Park comes from the series of 'Waverley Novels' by Sir Walter Scott. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waverley_Novels If you go to the Wikipedia link you will see that most of the streets are named after the titles of his novels. Ravenswood comes from the character Edgar Ravenswood in 'The Bride of Lammermoor' and Dinmont is a character in the novel 'Guy Mannering'." GET READING!!
